It was recently rumored that FIFA has chosen 2K to produce the next FIFA game, according to leaker Kurakasis.
Social network account X named Kurakasis said: “I don’t know if 2K is developing a new FIFA game or not. This is a rumor. But I wanted to inform everyone that 2K will officially announce the LEGO 2K Goooal! and plans to debut at the 2024 European Cup.
In an interview with IGN from 2022, Director Strauss Zelnick said: “We are interested in expanding our opportunities in sports and FIFA is a great brand to increase influence” . If a FIFA title is planned for this year, it is likely that an announcement of a new partnership will take place in the coming months. EA lost its FIFA license after refusing to pay the organization $1 billion, leading to previous FIFA games being removed from stores.
However, as EA Sports FC has proven, the official FIFA license makes little difference, other than the name and the World Cup license. All clubs and players must be individually licensed, which is extremely expensive compared to any fees FIFA would charge.
