The first phase of the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail update will introduce two new characters, Jing Yuan and Black Swan.
The 2.0 version of Honkai Star Rail will feature completely new 5 and 4-star characters, and you can obtain them for a limited time by scrolling the Warp banner in the event. The first phase of the upcoming update will allow you to obtain two new characters, Jing Yuan and Black Swan.
Since both characters focus on dealing damage, Honkai Star Rail enthusiasts may wonder which 5-star character is the most suitable to choose. This article discusses which 5-star character to choose, along with an analysis of the skills of both characters.
Black Swan’s skills:
- Basic attack: Performs a Wind attack that deals damage and has a chance to cause a Stigma. Each debuff affecting the opponent has a chance to cause an additional Stigma point if the opponent is under the effects of Burn, Wind Cut, Shock, or Bleed.
- Skill: Deals Wind damage to three adjacent enemies to cause a Stigma point. In addition, the opponent’s defense stat will decrease by 20.8%. The effects are effective for three turns.
- Ultimate: After activation, deals Wind damage to all enemies on the battlefield and causes a Resonance for two turns. When the opponent is affected by the effect, they will receive additional damage when their turn begins, and the Stigma effect is processed like the effects of Bleed, Shock, Burn, and Wind Cut.
- Talent: At the beginning of the turn, when each opponent receives DoT (damage over time), they have a chance to be affected by Stigma. Wind damage will be applied to the enemy when they are affected by Stigma. Each cumulative point of the effect increases the additional damage coefficient by 12%. Stigma can be accumulated up to 99 times. Having three or more Stigma points deals Wind damage to nearby enemies and has a chance to cause Stigma. With seven cumulative Stigma points or more, DoT can ignore 20% of the opponent’s defense.
Jing Yuan’s skills:
- Basic attack: Deals Lightning damage to the opponent.
- Skill: Releases an attack that deals Thunder damage to all enemies. Moreover, it gives Lightning-Lord two more hits per action in the next turn.
- Ultimate: Deals Lightning damage to all enemies and gives Lightning-Lord three more hits per action in the next turn.
- Talent: Jing Yuan summons Lightning-Lord at the beginning of the fight.
- On the other hand, Jing Yuan is an excellent champion, but not as good as Black Swan in terms of damage output. However, there will still be some other squads that need Jing Yuan to master his excellent attack.
Based on the skills of both characters, Black Swan is more suitable for players who prefer to deal damage over time, while Jing Yuan is more suitable for players who prefer to deal damage in a short amount of time. However, the choice ultimately depends on the player’s playstyle and preferences.
